About the Role

Restaurant Manager – Barnstaple

Full‑time | 40+ hours per week | Up to £16 per hour (depending on experience)

Benefits include:
Free or discounted meals • Tip share • Free parking • NEST pension • Employee Assistance Programme

Quartz Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a busy, well‑loved restaurant in Barnstaple that is looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to take responsibility for day‑to‑day operations.

This role would suit someone who enjoys being hands‑on, working closely with their team, and having real ownership over how the restaurant runs. The restaurant already has good systems in place and a settled, loyal team, and is now looking for a manager who can bring consistency, leadership, and a strong presence on the floor.

The role

This is a working manager position, meaning you’ll be involved across all areas of the restaurant, particularly during service. You’ll work closely with the owners while taking responsibility for standards, staff performance, training, and the overall flow of service.

The role is full‑time, around 40+ hours per week, with a set shift pattern and flexibility for straight or split shifts.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and supporting the front and back‑of‑house team
  • Being visible and hands‑on during busy service periods
  • Making sure customers receive a consistently good experience
  • Training staff and supporting their development
  • Maintaining food quality, hygiene, and service standards
  • Helping with stock control, suppliers, and deliveries
  • Supporting recruitment and onboarding of new team members
  • Setting clear expectations and leading by example
  • Sharing ideas to improve service and day‑to‑day efficiency

About you

You’ll be an experienced hospitality professional who is confident running a busy operation and enjoys working alongside the team rather than managing from behind the scenes.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality management role
  • A strong front‑of‑house presence
  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen (an advantage)
  • Confidence training and supporting staff at different levels
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • A solid understanding of food hygiene and service standards
  • A practical, problem‑solving approach

Experience in high‑volume or fast‑paced environments would be helpful but isn’t essential.

What’s on offer

  • Up to £16 per hour, depending on experience
  • Free or discounted meals
  • Tip share
  • Free parking
  • NEST pension
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • A supportive, close‑knit team
  • A role with real responsibility and autonomy
